Child Seat Safety provides training to anyone responsible for the fitting of child restraints. You can choose between our range of courses that will best suit your role and aspirations.  We have the only nationally approved child seat training courses which are certified by CPD and  licenced by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)

Child Seat Safety Awareness Course

This course was developed to help standardise the quality of advice & guidance being given to parents when they buy car seats or fit them for their children.  The course is approved and accredited by the Institute for Safety and Health ( IOSH) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) who are recognised professional bodies in the UK and internationally.

This course is not “Product Training” which is provided by many car seat manufacturers but instead works alongside their training, to enhance the knowledge of advisors and those with a keen interest in child in car safety. The course is independently assessed and approved by IOSH and CPD and therefore covers all aspects of child seats on a factual basis, e.g. forward facing and rear facing. Views and opinions can be shared during the training, but can not be taken into account when final assessment is undertaken.

Face to Face Training

The one day course contains 5 assessed modules which ensures you will have a higher level of insight in the following categories:

• Knowing the Law
• Knowing the Vehicle
• Knowing Child Development
• Knowing the Variety of seats
• Knowing the Customer

The certification lasts for 3 years and needs renewing within 2 months of expiry.

On completion of the course, you will receive confirmation of your 7 CPD points.

Training is ideal for all those with responsibility for the fitting of child restraints, particularly in the retail, public & voluntary sectors.

Cost £225 +VAT per delegate

IOSH on- line Course

The course is undertaken via the Zoom online platform, with two trainers and other delegates from their remote locations. It is split over two, half days in the same week and the content is the same as the face to face courses. For those delegates who feel they would benefit from additional practical training, we offer an additional face to face; 2 hour session  with our trainers which will be undertaken at a later date at various locations around the country.

Cost:

2x half days online training – £225 +VAT per delegate

2x half days online + 2 hour practical – £255 + VAT per delegate

IOSH Refresher Training

Child Seat Safety Ltd provide refresher training  for those that need to renew their IOSH certification, this is also completed on line and requires delegates to be available for 2 , half days in the week.

Cost:  £195 +VAT per delegate

Safe Travel of Other People’s Children Course (STOP C)

CPD  online course – 3.5 hours

Ideal for those with a limited level of knowledge on child seat safety and road safety, but are likely to have some professional qualifications in their chosen career, such as :

• Social care,
• Community transport,
• School transport,
• Foster Services
• Paediatric Health care,
• Midwifery,
• Occupational Therapy

The course will help each delegate with:

• A practical knowledge of Health and Safety requirements and responsibilities of employer and employee engaged in all aspect of transporting children.
• An understanding as to why children require different child restraints at different times in their development and what the legal requirements are for designing and using car seats.
• Information on how to offer best practices solutions to providing child in car safety advice

The course is accredited by CPD and delegate must complete 3 modules – 2 Mandatory and 1 optional:

Mandatory Modules:

• Law – ECE Safety standard legislation, Road Traffic Law, Health and safety standards and workplace audits.
• Vehicle – Ergonomics of vehicles and how it works with or against a child restraint.

Optional Modules: delegates can choose 1 of the following 3 modules

• The Child – Overview of Infant and child development and the physical development from birth to 12.
• Early years – Infant safety and physical development from Birth to 2 years.
• Special Needs Seating – Transporting children with specific additional needs.

Due to constant changes in the ECE safety standards, Road Traffic law and health and safety requirements, it is intended that this course should be renewed every 3 years; this is in line with similar existing qualifications within the fields of Health and Safety, Child in-car Safety and Road Safety Education.

£135 +VAT per delegate

£1380 +VAT for a Private course for up to 12 delegates
